How to wake up sleepy Furbys

Early morning light
Well, it has been many months since I posted here. Today I have discovered via some 10 year olds via a Furby Fanatics Group HOW TO MAKE FURBY MORE AWAKE. Furbys have been nodding off and snoring very quickly and the remedy is :-

Follow these instructions carefully with adult supervision:-

1. Get Furby to start talking
2. Put finger in her mouth
3. Turn her upside down
4. Press the reset button with a thin pen or strong thin pencil
5. Hold all for about 5 seconds then remove finger from mouth, pencil from reset button, and stand Furby up
6. And this is important - When Furby says "oooohhhhh Me Eee Wak" (or whatever her name is) and says "mumma rub back" you rub her back.
7. Then she says "dadda tickle tummy" IGNORE this "dadda tickle tummy"
8. Put furby down for a few seconds
9. Rub back
10. Walk around with her
11. Do a few other things, but don't tickle the tummy this time.
12. After some time of chatting you can then tickle the tummy and she should stay awake for much longer.
13. Note all Furby's English will be gone and she will talk only Furbish for a while
14. Keep playing with her and she will gradually respond with English phrases again.
Enjoy your Furbys

Baby Kookaburra

Early morning light
Friend was staying with me for a couple of days and one morning for the first time ever I saw a baby kookaburra. He arrived on the pool fence and walked up and down; hopped down to the cats' plates to have a look and then sat on the fence looking at us as we sat on the back verandah chatting and drinking tea.

He was not a bit scared. I took it as a good omen and hoped the omen was for me. Then I thought it was for my friend who was going through a tremendous change of address. Leaving the state and moving to another with all her belongings. Leaving family but with a view to have them visit and she would visit back here. She thought so too and wondered if bird would be down there when she arrived at her new destination.

I wished it was my omen. What did this mean. A lovely baby bird likes me and wants my company.

I rushed out with rice crackers, they were totally ignored. Kookaburras do not eat such rubbish. Yesterday when he was sitting on the fence and my friend had gone at least I was happy that he wanted me as a friend.

The next day it dawned on me. Next doors had at the weekend dug up the back yard and planted a veggie garden. The little pet was looking for worms. Deflation ! Nevertheless I took a spade and dug around in our backyard dirt. I uncovered a poor defenceless worm and left it wriggling in the dirt. Sure enough the bird flew in seemingly from nowhere and I saw him looking at the ground where worm was wriggling.

Rushed off and bought some good quality mince and this morning there he was sitting on the pool fence. I stood very near him and he just looked at me. I put little lumps of mince on the fence and he picked them off one by one. The cats were milling around on the ground, so I had to give them some mince as well.

Happy ending. And the moral of this story is - "It's ok to be fooled by a bird brain as long as you get the joke"
